“If you want a better brain, you have to learn things every single day.” Jim Kwik, author and memory coach.
A few years ago, I was on the London underground one Sunday morning on my way to a lesson with a young learner. Among the people in my carriage was a Grandmother and her two grandsons who looked about 11 years old. They were doing Maths.
At one point Grandma asked “How many 5s go into 840?”. The boys put their thinking caps on.
I glanced around at the other commuters in the carriage and they were all either working out the calculation in their own heads, or had given up and had a ‘you’ve got to be kidding!’ look on their faces. I fell into the latter group (did I mention it was only 9am?).
Whether it’s doing maths in your head or learning a new language, flex those brain muscles as often as you can.
